Meet Stasha. Stasha manages the Union Club, Surge Tacoma, and Surge south Tacoma. She also has a side hustle called Travel Together Vintage. She has an eye for vintage clothing, and is probably one of the easiest people I have interviewed thus far. I feel like I say this often. But Stasha is one of a kind, and I really enjoyed getting to know her. Learn more about Stasha in the interview below!
How did you get started in your vintage clothing side hustle?
I have always worn and bought vintage. When I was in college, I started selling vintage clothing in the rec center, and common spaces. I started making a lot of extra money. In 2015, I needed to buy inventory. In the summer of 2016, I started selling stuff online. I have had really great success selling at other vintage stores in Seattle. I have been trying to figure out how to selling more in person. Right now I keep all of my stock in tacoma. If people want to try on an item, I invite them to the union club and they can try it on.
What is your favorite piece you have found?
I have this leather jacket that has cow hide on it. I just put it online for $1,000. They normally sell for $3,000.
What is the best part of selling vintage?
I love finding pieces for other people – making them happy.
I have always loved fashion. I sold these 70’s moon boots that were multicolored to a person that lived in Minnesota. I always wish I could see that person rocking them, I would get a kick out of it.
What is the most challenging part?
It is hard for me to do budgeting. Vintage doesn’t sell as much than it does in other margins. I have a hard time with pricing my items right. Finding my middle ground. Also I think about what is my next step?

Tell me any story
In having a family business, it has impacted my life. When I was in high school I told my parents that we should buy the Union Club building. I told them it would be cool to turn it into music and art spaces. I had totally forgotten about this idea. When my parents bought the building, they made it into a co working space. It is awesome because I came up with the idea 10 years ago. I now manage the spaces and I love it.
